Finance and Payroll

The Finance Department of South Washington County Schools:

  • Oversees day-to-day activities including processing payables, receivables and student activity transactions.
  • Monitors activity to ensure funds spent are within guidelines established by the budget approved by the School Board and that all expenditures are in compliance with Minnesota statute.
  • Ensures that the district meets all deadlines for submitting financial information to the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Oversees the district budget process.
  • Assists the district's independent auditors during the audit.
  • Works with Washington County and the Minnesota Department of Education to ensure they levy process is completed.

District 833 has earned the Certificate of Excellence for the tenth consecutive year.

District 833 Director of Finance Dan Pyan and Ehlers Financial Advisor Jodie Zesbaugh presented positive financial information to the District 833 School Board at their meeting on Sept. 15.

For the ninth consecutive year, The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded South Washington County Schools its Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting award for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.

During the June meetings, Director of Finance Dan Pyan presented the Board with a balanced budget for the 2015-16 school year. Considered in the balanced budget were the estimated costs of employee negotiations, including a pending contract that will increase the total compensation package for teachers by 8.2 percent.
