August 2011 High School Spanish Immersion
Program planning underway
As the district’s Nuevas Fronteras Spanish
Immersion students grow and move on to the middle
and high school levels, the district works to ensure
appropriate programming is in place.
Beginning in 2010-11, the first set of 6th
grade Spanish Immersion students began at Cottage
Grove Middle School. This class will enter high
school in the fall of 2013 – just two short years
from now. With the scheduling and staffing process
for high school students, it is important to ensure
appropriate programming is in place by late fall,
2012.
Woodbury High School Principal Linda Plante and
Cottage Grove Middle School Principal Elise Block
are the administrators who will lead the efforts of
the Spanish Immersion Pathway Planning Team.
The group is meeting and is working through a
number of issues involved to accommodate the
students, their families and the district needs.
The intent of this web page will be to keep
interested persons updated on the progress of the
team’s work.
Questions can be directed to either Linda
Plante at Woodbury High School (lplante@sowashco.k12.mn.us)
or Elise Block at Cottage Grove Middle School (eblock@sowashco.k12.mn.us)
